Every Larkville wallet is a bifold cut from full grain leather — the top layer of the hide, grain intact — with an RFID-blocking lining built into the card slots. What separates them is the finish on the leather, the capacity and the format. Here is how to pick.

Oil pull-up or crazy horse?

Oil pull-up is oil-tanned full grain. It starts smooth and even, lightens where it bends, then settles back as the oils move through it, darkening gradually. If you want a wallet that looks tidy in a jacket pocket and ages slowly, that is the Heritage.

Crazy horse is the same full grain hide finished with a hot wax worked deep into the fibers. It looks distressed from day one: creases lighten, scratches rub out with a thumb, and the color shifts as you carry it. It is also more water-resistant than an untreated finish. The Wayfarer, Drifter and Foundry are all cut from it.

How many cards do you actually carry?

Count them before you buy. Most people carry four to six. A wallet that is one slot short gets stuffed, and a stuffed wallet stretches out of shape within a year.

• Five cards or fewer: the Heritage or the Wayfarer — 5 card slots and 2 cash pockets each.
• Six cards: the Drifter, which adds a sixth slot and a hidden ID window.
• Back-pocket carry: the Foundry, a vertical bifold that lies flat instead of bulging across the pocket.

Do you need an ID window?

If you show your license often — at work, at a bar, at an airport — a clear window saves you pulling the card out and pushing it back in twenty times a week, which is exactly what wears a card slot out. The Heritage and the Drifter both keep the window hidden inside. The Foundry puts it where you can read it without opening the wallet.

What RFID blocking actually does

Contactless cards answer any reader that gets close enough. The lining in every Larkville wallet sits between your cards and the outside world, so a reader in a crowd gets nothing back. It is not a separate sleeve you have to remember to use — it is built into the card slots.

Bifold, or something slimmer?

A bifold holds folded bills as well as cards, which a card case will not. If you carry cash at all, even occasionally, a bifold is the format that works. If you genuinely never carry cash, a slim card holder will suit you better than anything on this page — we would rather say so than sell you the wrong wallet.
